Hi! I’m Clare and I’m a Clinical Psychologist.

Can you tell me a bit about your background?

Over the past seven years I have worked with children and adults of all ages experiencing emotional difficulties. During this time, I have come to understanding the importance of appreciating an individual’s diversity and how these fits within their cultural background and beliefs. I have completed a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and have experience working in NHS teams supporting adults with long standing mental health difficulties, long term health conditions and with children, adolescents and families.

What will it be like when I meet you?

I believe in the importance of providing individuals and families with a safe and confidential space where they can share difficulties that are troubling them and work towards living a more fulfilling life. I aim to do this through forming a trusting relationship where there is no judgement and focusing on each person’s strengths and skills. I will be interested to hear about your life, what is important to you and what goals I can help you achieve.

What types of therapy do you use and what kind of difficulties do you help people with?

I am experienced in supporting individuals and families with a range of difficulties including low mood, anxiety, low self-esteem, stress, anger and relationship difficulties. I am also experienced in providing therapy to over come traumatic life events and coping with difficult transitions and loss. The psychological models I use to do this include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Mindfulness, Narrative and Systemic approaches.

What do you enjoy outside of psychology?

I like to spend my time doing yoga, travelling, cooking and spending time with friends and family. I am a creative person and love going to exhibitions and seeing live music.
