Frequently Asked Questions
What Therapy Do You Offer?
We offer a full range of therapies some of which include: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Family Therapy, Eye-movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy and Integrative Therapy. The only type of therapy we do not offer is Hypnosis, as this is not recommended in National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines.
What Happens The First Time I Meet You?
The first time we meet is an opportunity for us to learn more about you and the difficulties you are facing. At the end of the session we will discuss a plan going forward and you will be given an opportunity to decide whether this fits well for you. You will have the option to book further appointments if necessary.
What Will My First Therapy Session Be Like?
One of the most important parts of our work is building relationships with those sitting opposite us. You can have all the training and knowledge in the world, but if the client doesn’t return, none of this can be put into action. Therefore, our first aim is always to provide a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where we can work on your difficulties together.
How Many Therapy Sessions Will I Need?
At The Oak Tree Practice, we do things a little differently. Our aim is to help you get to where you want to be, in the shortest amount of time possible.
We don’t offer a minimum amount of sessions, as if you feel like you’re where you want to be after one or two, we’d be delighted! Of course, if you would like longer term therapy, we are more than happy to discuss that too.
How Much Is A Private Therapy Session?
Private therapy costs range from £85 to £160 depending on the type of therapy and the professional involved. There is also a £30 supplement from 5pm onwards.
Most of the team are registered with health insurance companies. This includes BUPA, AXA Health, Aviva, Cigna, Vitality Health and Simply Health.
Is Your Private Therapy Clinic Accredited By Any Professional Body?
All our therapists are accredited band regulated by a professional body including the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and British Psychological Society (BPS).
What Are NICE Guidelines And Do You Work By These?
National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) provides guidance for therapists in terms of which types of therapy they should use for the different difficulties individuals/couples/ families experience. We follow the guidelines provided but appreciate that people do not fit into boxes, so are flexible in terms of the therapies we offer to ensure they fit best for you.
How Long Do Therapy Sessions Typically Last?
Each session lasts for 50 minutes and can be completed in-person, over the phone or via zoom. If you would like to arrange an appointment, then get in touch via our contact form, WhatsApp us on 07926 713 198 or call us on for a free 15 minute no obligation chat. We would be delighted to offer you therapy or counselling support in a comfortable and non-judgemental environment.
