Hi! I’m Elliott and I’m a Clinical Psychologist.

Can you tell me a bit about your background?

Hello, I’m Elliott.

Perhaps you’ve been feeling sad or low, spending a lot of time worrying, or finding a relationship difficult. You might be going through a change in your life, feeling overwhelmed, or wanting to understand yourself better. You may also be looking for support for your child, or somewhere to think together about what’s happening in your family.

You’re welcome to come with a clear concern, or with something you’re still finding the words for. We can begin wherever you are.

Who I work with

I work with children, young people and adults at different stages of life, including older adults. I offer individual therapy, parent and child sessions, and sessions for couples, families and friends. Families and close relationships take many forms, and I’m interested in the people who matter to you.

People come to me with sadness, low mood, anxiety, worry or OCD. Others want help with difficult or traumatic experiences, changes in their lives, questions about identity, or a sense of feeling stuck. I also work with autistic people and people with ADHD.

My work includes the effects of racism, homophobia, and other forms of discrimination and exclusion. We can talk about how these experiences have affected you, your relationships and your sense of belonging. How you’ve been treated matters, and is part of understanding what you’re living with now.

What it might be like to meet me

Our first meeting is a chance to get to know each other. We’ll take time to understand your experience and what you want from our conversations. You can ask questions, share what feels manageable, and get a sense of how it feels to talk with me.

I aim to offer a calm, welcoming space where you can speak openly and feel taken seriously. Sometimes we’ll pause and reflect; sometimes I’ll ask a question that gently challenges a familiar way of seeing things. We might focus on something practical. There can also be humour and playfulness when that feels helpful and comfortable for you.

When we meet together, whether as a parent and child, a couple, a family or friends, I’ll make room for each person’s experience and perspective.

You can tell me when something doesn’t fit. How we work will develop as we get to know each other.

How we can work together

I’m interested in how your experiences, relationships and circumstances have shaped how you understand yourself. We might explore expectations you’ve lived with, patterns that keep coming up, or ideas about yourself that have become difficult to live with.

We’ll also make space for your strengths, hopes and what matters to you. Together, we can make sense of what’s happening and consider changes you’d like to make in everyday life.

My background, teaching and research

I’ve worked across NHS and community services, supporting people with a range of emotional and relationship difficulties.

Alongside my clinical work, I’m a lecturer and researcher. I teach at the University of Hertfordshire and the University of Oxford.

Friendship is an area of particular interest to me. I’ve published research in the Journal of Family Therapy exploring how therapists can support friends who want help with their relationship.

Outside work

I’m drawn to art for the way it can bring life into sharper focus, making familiar things feel new and helping me notice what I might otherwise miss.
