Hi! I’m Atoté and I’m a Clinical Psychologist.
Can you tell me a bit about your background?
Thank you for visiting my profile! I am a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years’ experience working across the NHS, private practice, and charity sectors.
I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Kent before undertaking a Postgraduate Certificate in Systemic Practice at the University of Leeds. I then went on to complete my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Newcastle University.
What will it be like when I meet you?
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s completely natural to feel uncertain about what to expect. My aim is to make our first meeting as welcoming and comfortable as possible.
The initial session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and to explore what has brought you to therapy. We will discuss the challenges you are experiencing, what you hope to gain from our work together, and whether my approach feels like the right fit for you.
I believe therapy works best when you feel heard, respected, and involved in the process. From the outset, I want you to feel able to speak openly and know that we will work collaboratively and with compassion.
What therapies do you use and what kind of difficulties do you help people with?
As an Intergrative therapist, I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and Systemic Practice, tailoring therapy to your unique needs and goals.
I primarily work with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including generalised anxiety, social anxiety, health anxiety, depression, phobia and relational difficulties. Alongside this, I have experience supporting people living with physical health conditions such as chronic pain, functional neurological disorder, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and stroke.
What are your interests outside of psychology?
Outside of work, I love spending time in nature. I am often found tending to my roses, visiting beautiful gardens around the world, or enjoying scenic walks with family and friends. Secondary loves include food and literature. Delicious food gets me very excited and a good book (preferably read outside on a sunny day) helps me to unwind.
