Hi! I’m Ama and I’m a Clinical Psychologist.
Can you tell me a bit about your background?
Welcome! Thank you for landing here. I have studied Psychology at Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral level and have over 9 years of experience working with adults, children and families experiencing a range of difficulties.
I have worked within the NHS, local authority, the charity sector and privately. I work collaboratively with my clients to make sense of their difficulties, strengths, experiences and personalities in the context of their intersectional identity and the culture, family and systems they live in.
What will it be like when I meet you?
The decision to begin or restart therapy is a brave one and finding a therapist you connect to and feel safe with is important. I will dedicate time to building a trusted relationship with you and creating a protected space to explore your identity, experiences, thoughts and feelings in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
I offer a space to be yourself and to explore your current difficulties with care, compassion and kindness. I understand that people and emotions are complex, and our world is messy and chaotic. I am here to support you to make sense of it all.
What types of therapy do you use and what kind of difficulties do you help people with?
I am experienced in supporting individuals and families experiencing a range of difficulties including complex trauma, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, stress, psychosis, OCD, relationship difficulties, bereavement, and PTSD.
I take an integrative approach, utilising ideas and tools from a wide range of therapies including Systemic, Narrative, Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).
I also integrate learning and wisdom derived from lived experiences and our social, cultural and political world.
What do you enjoy doing outside of psychology?
I love to travel whenever I can and spend time with family and friends. I also love watching TV on my projector for three and a half minutes every night before falling asleep.
