Hi! I’m Lauren and I’m a Speech and Language Therapist.
Can you tell me a bit about you?
I have over ten years experience working with children and young people experiencing speech, language and communication difficulties. I chose to specialise in Autism and learning disability following one of my early clinical placements. This sparked my commitment to ensure a person-centred approach to therapy. I am registered with the professional regulating bodies: HCPC, RCSLT and ASLTIP.
I am able to advise on EHCPs and I am also ADOS certified. I enjoy creating and delivering training packages for families and education staff to use strategies to support communication.
My approach:
My core principles for every session are:
Achievable, Meaningful and Individualised!
This means the targets we work towards will be discussed together and set jointly. The activities I use will aim to capture individual interests, whatever they may be! I adapt my resources according to needs.
One of my favourite quotes is “Not being able to speak is not the same as not having anything to say.” For me, this means that everyone has the right to be heard.
My interests:
I love discovering new places and experiencing new cuisines along the way! I’m happiest surrounded by nature and being in the great outdoors.
